Ultra-Small Heat Transport System

N. Shikazono, Y.-B. Han, Y. Saito

Overview

Heat and mass transport in very small conduits are receiving large attention due to their high heat and mass transfer enhancement. For example, heat exchangers composed of very small tubes are can drastically reduce the size and weight and can achieve high performance at the same time. In the present study, thicknesses of the liquid film around the confined bubbles are measured by laser confocal method. Predictive methods for the liquid film thickness and heat transfer characteristics are investigated. Critical heat flux and exit quality in heated micro channels are also under investigation.
